Labels – Direct Thermal
Direct thermal labels are labels that do not require a printing ribbon. These labels have a special heat-activated layer within its construction where a black print image is formed when heat from the printers’ print head is applied. Because of this, it eliminates a printing ribbon and usually reduces downtime for simple loading of labels, and in most cases, lowers the unit cost per label. Direct thermal labels are normally used when a short time period is required for the labeling purpose. Over a period of time, these labels will eventually fade or brown with age, and will turn black if exposed to heat or strong sunlight.
